Accountant for an SL in Spain: what it includes and what it costs

An accountant for an SL in Spain keeps the company’s books, files its VAT and Corporate Tax returns and prepares the annual accounts. The online providers I read charge from €129 a month plus VAT for a limited company plan, up to €350 for the most complex tier, and the gap comes down to whether Corporate Tax, annual accounts and payroll are included. Only some say they work in English: Billeo advertises an English-speaking accountant, and Finlai publishes its website in English.

Prices were read on each provider’s website on 26 October 2026.

What changes the price

‍

What to ask as a foreign founder

  1. In which language do you work? For emails, calls and the documents you receive
  2. Does the monthly fee include Corporate Tax and the annual accounts?
  3. Who files the accounts at the Mercantile Registry, and at what price?
  4. How many invoices and bank movements are included?
  5. Is payroll included?
  6. Does the program issuing your invoices comply with Verifactu?
  7. Who is responsible if there is a mistake?

For more on what a gestor does and how to choose one, see what is a gestor and tax advisor in Spain. The Tax Agency also publishes its main pages in English.

‍

Verifactu and e-invoicing

For companies, Verifactu is mandatory by law from 1 January 2027. Hacienda announced on 5 October 2026 a postponement to October 2028 that is not in the BOE yet: Verifactu for SL.

E-invoicing between businesses starts in October 2027 for businesses with turnover above €8 million and in October 2028 for everyone else: is electronic invoicing mandatory.

‍

Common mistakes

Comparing only the monthly fee. A fee without annual accounts can end up costing more over the year.

Not asking about Corporate Tax. It is not always included.

Forgetting payroll. It is often charged separately.

Leaving the filing of the accounts without an owner. If they are not filed on time, it is you who is chased.

Assuming a freelancer plan works for an SL. The plans are different.
